Charting the Unknown is the paid Crimson Desert expansion available on PS5. It launched on October 29, 2026 and has a separate PlayStation Store listing. The free Enhanced base-game upgrade, PS5 edition armor bonuses, and the Deluxe Pack are different contents; owning one does not automatically establish ownership of the expansion.
If an expansion activity is missing, check the purchase, installed game update, and that activity's progression requirement in that order. As of November 1, version 2.04.04 is available for PlayStation. Installing the hotfix is useful, but updating the base game alone does not replace the paid expansion license.
Find the Expansion Rather Than Another Base Edition
Look for the full product title Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown. The United States PlayStation Store listing identifies PS5, one player, Remote Play, and PS5 Pro Enhanced support. Its listed price is USD 24.99. That figure belongs to that regional digital listing rather than every PlayStation market or seller.
The word Enhanced can appear on both the main game and the expansion. Read the whole title and product contents instead of treating that word as a unique DLC label. The base game's Deluxe Edition also uses separate named contents, so a higher base-edition price does not prove that the expansion is included.
| What you own or see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Standard base game | Whether Charting the Unknown is separately owned |
| Enhanced base-game update | Whether the expansion entitlement is present |
| Deluxe Edition or Deluxe Pack | The named included items, not an assumed expansion |
| PS5 Grotevant Plate Set bonus | Edition bonus content rather than expansion access |
| Charting the Unknown | Installation and the missing feature's progression gate |
If you are buying a first copy, confirm that you also have the required base game. If you already own the main adventure, check the expansion-only product before purchasing another complete edition. This prevents a base-game repurchase from being mistaken for the additional content you wanted.

Ships and ocean exploration belong to the expansion discussed here.
Keep Store Visibility and Ownership Separate
An add-on not appearing in one store view is different from a completed purchase not appearing on the account. Start with the exact expansion name and the PlayStation account used for buying the game. Check whether you are viewing the product page, a wishlist entry, or an older promotional description.
Older discussions about the expansion disappearing from a wishlist concern a pre-release period. They are not proof that the launched expansion is currently unavailable to every PS5 user, nor do they establish the cause of a problem in your account's region. Avoid buying a second copy solely because one navigation route fails to display it.
Use your own account's product and transaction information to establish whether the purchase completed. If an order exists but the product does not show as owned, keep the order details when contacting the store. If the order is absent, a promotional video or a wishlist entry is not a substitute for an entitlement.
Regional availability must be checked in the store used by your account. A United States product page is useful for identifying the expansion, but it does not demonstrate that every country offers identical purchase terms. Do not infer a regional restriction or a workaround from another user's brief comment.
Confirm the Latest PlayStation Update
The official 2.04.04 table marks PlayStation as available on November 1. Complete the latest update offered to your PS5 before comparing an issue with the hotfix notes. An older library description mentioning 2.04.00 identifies a previous release, not the current hotfix baseline.
Version 2.04.04 fixes a key-item equipment problem involving Greymane comrades and reloading, disappearing registered farm livestock, and Korean text appearing in part of the Gift interface. These are specific issues. The patch is not a universal explanation for missing quests or a guarantee that every existing save has been corrected.
A broader update can also contain general improvements alongside expansion features. Buying Charting the Unknown is not the normal route to receive a base-game bug fix. Conversely, seeing new interface behavior after updating does not prove the paid expansion is now owned.
Keep three facts in front of you during troubleshooting: the account that owns the expansion, the installed game version, and the activity you are trying to access. If one is unknown, resolve it before changing your quest progress or buying another product.
Expansion Activities Have Different Entry Conditions
The expansion does not require one identical starting condition for every feature. New individual stories for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane appear through the Journal after Journey's End. The ocean-focused A Wider World quest instead requires Howling Hill and an expanded Greymane camp above a certain level.
The current official condition does not publish that camp level as a number. If you are troubleshooting A Wider World, check the named main-story milestone and camp development rather than following an invented exact level. Completing Journey's End alone is not a substitute for every separate camp condition.
Free Construction has another route: establish the camp at Howling Hill and complete Luke's Request under Grounds of the Sunrise. The menu path is Home Decoration, then Layout, then Free Construction. This is a different check from looking for a new character-story entry in the Journal.
| Missing activity | Relevant initial check |
|---|---|
| New character story | Journey's End and the Journal |
| A Wider World | Howling Hill and sufficient camp expansion |
| Free Construction | Howling Hill camp and Luke's Request |
| Drakesfall Castle | Journey's End and stronghold liberation |
| Flame Knight's Castle | Damiane's Politician quest and stronghold liberation |
| Garden of Trials | Journey's End |
Use the row matching the activity you want. This is an access checklist, not a requirement to complete every listed activity before the expansion can work. A failure to meet one condition should not be interpreted as evidence that the entire purchase is broken.
Recognize the Content You Are Looking For
Ocean exploration is a major part of Charting the Unknown. The expansion adds ships, underwater exploration, islands, and treasure-related activities. Ships can be constructed through a dispatch mission or bought from fleetmasters; those are content routes, not a code you redeem from the PlayStation menu.
Diving uses a breath gauge, and refining a diving suit increases maximum breath. New food items can temporarily restore it. If the feature you expected is a longer dive, distinguish obtaining access from improving the equipment that supports it. An expansion purchase is not a promise of unlimited underwater time.
The new life systems also have distinct functions. Facilities are managed through the map's Facilities tab, while residences and expanded housing serve different purposes. Seeing a restaurant or sawmill in a feature trailer does not mean the same menu is used to build a house or begin a character quest.
The expansion remains single-player. Three playable heroes and the Garden of Trials lineup do not turn the PS5 release into online co-op. The PlayStation listing's one-player designation is consistent with those in-game character systems.
Edition Armor Is Different From New Expansion Equipment
PS5 base editions describe the Grotevant Plate Set bonus, while the Deluxe package lists Kairos armor, the Balgran Shield, and Exclaire horse equipment. These edition contents should not be confused with the new expansion equipment you find through Charting the Unknown activities.
For example, the expansion equipment list includes Charter's diving variants and Damiane's Demenissian Council clothing. Their existence does not mean a base-edition voucher contains them. When checking a missing item, identify whether it is a store bonus or a gameplay reward before investigating the wrong purchase.
Likewise, buying the expansion does not automatically place every new armor piece in your inventory. A product entitlement grants access to its content, while items can still need their own in-game acquisition. Do not repurchase an edition because an item has not appeared in the location where you expected it.
If the item is an edition bonus, inspect that edition's named contents. If it belongs to the expansion, check the relevant activity and character compatibility. Keeping those categories separate makes the next step much clearer than treating all new armor as the same DLC pack.

Check Save Compatibility Before Changing Installations
Charting the Unknown has an important save restriction: saves created while the DLC is installed cannot be loaded or used for cross-save in a game version without the DLC. Consider that before moving between installations or trying to remove content as a troubleshooting shortcut.
The restriction concerns the version with the expansion present. It is not a statement that uninstalling deletes the save, and it does not establish cross-buy or a universal refund condition. If you intend to continue a save elsewhere, first confirm that installation's appropriate expansion state.
If the correct account owns the expansion, the installation is current, and a specific activity is still missing, report the named activity and completed prerequisites. State the PS5 build and what the relevant menu actually shows. That gives support a concrete access problem to investigate rather than a broad claim that all DLC is absent.
The most useful end state is simple: one correct expansion purchase, a confirmed installation, and a matching feature condition. Once those are established, continue with that activity's dedicated walkthrough rather than buying more content to solve a progression gate.
